Welcome Aditya and Kayla!

The iART lab would like to welcome its two newest lab members, Aditya and Kayla, who will be starting the Psy.D. program this fall! As a way to introduce them, we asked a few questions to get to know them better.

Aditya Vasavan:

1.     What are you most excited about as you enter the program?
I am most excited about learning more about the psychotherapy process and delving into the various theoretical orientations that are prominent in the literature with which people align themselves.
2.     Why WPU?
I chose WPU because it is affordable, it is in a location that I have previously lived in and am familiar with, has a reputation for assisting its students heavily in starting a career as a psychologist, and I wanted to contribute to the important research currently being conducted in the iArt Lab.
3.     What are your research interests, if any, at this point in time?
I am interested in researching what types of interventions would be most useful in helping individuals with ASD improve the quality of their lives such that they can consistently build and maintain meaningful connections with themselves and the world around them.
4.     What is your favorite hobby or a fun fact about you?
One hobby of mine is going to art museums (I'm from Minnesota so my personal favorite is the Minneapolis Institute of Art) and bringing my sketchbook with me to draw things that I see there!

Kayla Maloney

1.     What are you most excited about as you enter the program?
As I enter the program, I am most excited to expand my knowledge and explore my research interests. I'm excited to meet all of the faculty and current students!
2.     Why WPU?
I chose WPU because of the sense of community it fosters and the opportunities it provides. WPU's focus on clinical practice and research was very important to me.
3.     What are your research interests, if any, at this point in time?
My research interests are still broad at this time. I am interested in continuing research on mindfulness and its effect on cognition.
4.     What is your favorite hobby or a fun fact about you?
I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my dog, Summer!
